Let’s look at some key elements to the fall 2011 season:
Patterns and colors
Stripes are hot right now as are bright colors. If you enjoy color, you can combine these patterns with bright colors, but if you’re a girl who favors black, you can still implement some of the popular striped designs into your wardrobe without feeling as if you have lost a critical part of your own personal style. Mustard is a popular color this fall as is grey. Both of these colors can be worn with basic black or can be dressed up and energized with another pop of color like red.
Coats
Coats this fall are interesting and fun. Peplum blazers, coats and vests are all the rage and they are thankfully forgiving and comfortable. They flatter most body types as well, a rare situation. No matter the style of coat you choose, remember that rust is the color of the season.
Dresses and skirts
Sometimes you want to put the pants away and dress like a girly girl. When those moods hit, consider what’s hot this season. Super popular is the "working girl" dress, which is a bit of a throwback style of dress. These dresses feature mid-length skirts and long, blousy sleeves. Some are structured like a shirtdress, but others are more feminine have the flowy sleeves to match. Also popular are chunky sweaters and maxi skirts. The contrast of the big sweaters with flowing skirts can be a fun addition to a cool fall or early winter day.
Bright pants
On days when you want to wear pants but are not feeling the basic black, consider the new trend of colored pants. Hot pink pants can add a surprising something to your workday, or you might consider rust pants or a mustard-colored pant that works with all the mustard and rust in your fall wardrobe. This fall, adding just a few updated things to a wardrobe can make it look new and trendy. Choose well and enjoy the fashionable results.
